Licensed light installers for every fixture type

Calling a licensed electrician to install a light fixture is the right call, and here's why it matters: improper wiring at the junction box is one of the most common causes of residential electrical fires. All Electric installs lighting fixtures of every type, ceiling fans, chandeliers, recessed cans, pendant lights, exterior fixtures, landscape lighting, and LED upgrades, all wired to code, permitted where required, and backed by a 1-year warranty on labor. CO License #ME.0600978 is on file and fully insured. Call (720) 951-4619 to schedule, or book an appointment online.

What a good lighting install actually involves depends on several factors: whether a junction box already exists and is rated for the fixture weight, the age of the home's wiring, the fixture type, and whether the circuit needs a dedicated run or a dimmer switch added. Older homes especially, knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring is still common in pre-1980 construction across the Front Range, require an electrician who knows what they're looking at before they touch anything. Installation complexity drives cost more than fixture type does. Every job is different, contact All Electric for an accurate estimate.

What We Install

Residential and light commercial lighting, from a single fixture swap to a full-room lighting plan.

  1. Ceiling Fixtures and Chandeliers

We verify junction box ratings, add braces for heavy fixtures, and make clean connections. A chandelier that pulls free of the ceiling is a safety failure, not just a cosmetic one.

  2. Recessed Can and LED Downlights

New construction or retrofit. We cut, wire, and set every can square. IC-rated housings near insulation aren't optional; they're code.

  3. Pendant and Track Lighting

Kitchen islands, dining rooms, retail displays. We run the circuit, hang the hardware, and make sure the load is balanced across the breaker.

  4. Exterior and Security Lighting

Porch lights, motion sensors, soffit-mounted fixtures, and landscape flood lights. Outdoor wiring must be weatherproof-rated and GFCI-protected. We don't skip that step.

  5. LED Upgrades and Retrofit Kits

Swapping fluorescent troffers or incandescent fixtures to LED reduces energy draw significantly. We handle the wiring side; you keep the efficiency gains.

  6. Ceiling Fans with Light Kits

Fan-rated boxes only. A standard ceiling box will not hold a fan's dynamic load over time. We install the right box, the right brace, and the right switch.

Why It Matters

The difference a licensed installer makes

A decorative crystal pendant light fixture installed in a modern kitchen with exposed brick accent wall and dark countertop.
Plenty of people hang a light fixture on their own. Some of them do it safely. The ones who don't usually find out the hard way: a loose connection in a junction box generates heat over months, not minutes. By the time there's a problem, it's often behind drywall. All Electric has been licensed in Colorado for 9 years. Daniel Vargas holds CO License #ME.0600978 as an Electrical Contractor, qualified by a Master Electrician. That credential isn't decoration, it means every installation we complete meets NEC code requirements and can pass a city inspection. We pull permits when the scope requires them, and we don't do work that needs a permit without one. If you're selling a home or planning a remodel, unpermitted electrical work surfaces during inspection and costs more to fix than it would have to do correctly the first time. Our local electricians serve the full metro area.

Our Process

How a Light Installation Works

Three steps from your call to a finished, inspected install.

  1. Step 1: Assess the Location

We check the junction box, verify the circuit load, inspect the existing wiring, and confirm the fixture is compatible before any work begins.

  2. Step 2: Wire and Mount the Fixture

Connections are made securely, grounds are confirmed, and the fixture is mounted to a properly rated box. No shortcuts on the mechanical or electrical side.

  3. Step 3: Test and Walk You Through It

We test the fixture, verify GFCI or switch function where applicable, and explain what was done, in plain language, not trade jargon.

What All Electric stands behind

4.9 stars across 468 Google reviews. Here's what that reflects.

We won't install a fixture that isn't rated for the box it's going into, and we won't skip a ground because it's inconvenient. That's the work. If you've already gotten a quote from someone who didn't mention any of this, that's worth thinking about before you book them.
  • 1-year warranty on labor

If a connection fails within a year of our install, we come back and fix it.

  • CO License #ME.0600978, on every job

Licensed, insured, and accountable. Not a handyman with a drill.

    Verify with the state
  • Permitted work, every time it's required

We pull the permit. We don't ask you to figure out the paperwork.

Common Questions

Light Installation: Straight Answers

Not answered here? Call (720) 951-4619 and ask the electrician.

How much does it cost an electrician to install a light fixture?
Cost depends on whether a junction box already exists, whether it's rated for the fixture weight, the height of the ceiling, the age of the home's wiring, and whether a new circuit or switch is involved. A straightforward swap in a standard 8-foot ceiling with an existing box is very different from a vaulted-ceiling chandelier install in a 1960s home that needs a new box and a dimmer circuit. Every job is different, contact All Electric for an accurate estimate.
Do I need a permit to replace a light fixture?
A like-for-like fixture swap in the same location typically doesn't require a permit in most Front Range jurisdictions. Adding new fixtures, new circuits, or modifying the electrical layout usually does. All Electric determines permit requirements before work begins and pulls the permit when it's needed. We don't leave that call to the homeowner.
Can my existing junction box hold any ceiling fixture?
No. Standard boxes are rated for a maximum of 35 pounds. Ceiling fans and heavy chandeliers require a fan-rated box, and anything over 50 pounds needs a listed brace bar anchored to the ceiling joists. We inspect the box before mounting anything. If the box isn't right for the fixture, we say so before we start.
What's involved in adding recessed lighting to an existing room?
Retrofitting recessed cans into a finished ceiling requires cutting the openings, running wire from the switch to each can, and connecting to a circuit with adequate capacity. In an insulated ceiling, IC-rated (insulation contact) housings are required by code. We assess the ceiling structure, insulation, and available panel capacity before quoting any recessed lighting project. If electrical troubleshooting reveals an overloaded circuit, we address that first.
Do you install outdoor lighting and landscape fixtures?
Yes. Exterior lighting requires weatherproof-rated fixtures and GFCI protection on outdoor circuits. We install porch lights, motion-activated security fixtures, soffit lighting, and low-voltage landscape systems. Outdoor wiring buried underground must meet conduit depth requirements under Colorado code. We don't cut corners on any of it. Ask about electrical code violation corrections if a previous installer skipped these steps.
Is it worth upgrading to LED fixtures versus just replacing bulbs?
Recessed fixture retrofits and full LED fixture replacements deliver better light distribution and significantly lower operating wattage than simply swapping bulbs in old housings. Old fluorescent troffers in a kitchen or garage are a common candidate, the fixture itself limits efficiency, not just the bulb. If you're already paying an electrician for a visit, it's worth discussing the full scope. Every job is different, contact All Electric for an accurate estimate.
Do I need a permit to install a new light fixture?
A like-for-like fixture replacement in the same location typically doesn't require a permit in most Colorado jurisdictions. Adding new fixtures, new circuits, or changing the electrical layout usually does. All Electric determines permit requirements before work begins and pulls the permit when it's needed. You don't have to figure that out yourself.
What's involved in retrofitting recessed lighting into a finished ceiling?
Retrofitting requires cutting openings, running wire from the switch location to each can, and connecting to a circuit with enough remaining capacity. In insulated ceilings, IC-rated housings are mandatory under Colorado electrical code. We assess the ceiling structure, insulation type, and panel capacity before any cuts are made.
Do you install exterior and landscape lighting?
Yes. Exterior fixtures must be weatherproof-rated, and outdoor circuits require GFCI protection under code. We install porch lights, soffit fixtures, motion-activated security lights, and landscape systems. Underground wiring must meet conduit depth requirements. We follow every step, no shortcuts on outdoor work.
Is it worth switching from a standard fixture to a full LED retrofit?
Usually, yes. Swapping just the bulb in an old housing limits how much efficiency you actually gain, the fixture design itself affects light output and heat management. If you're already scheduling electrical work, it's worth a conversation. Every job is different, contact All Electric for an accurate estimate.
